NetSPI bridges security gaps with new ML/AI pentesting solution

Posted on

Cybersecurity services and software provider NetSPI LLC today announced a new machine learning and artificial intelligence pentesting solution to bring a more holistic and proactive approach to safeguarding machine learning model implementations.

Claimed to be the first of its kind, NetSPI’s ML/AI Pentesting solution focuses on two core components: identifying, analyzing and remediating vulnerabilities on machine learning systems such as large language models, and providing grounded advice and real-world guidance to ensure security is considered from ideation to implementation.

NetSPI argues that with the current pace of machine learning and AI adoption, it’s vital for organizations to understand the distinct threats inherent in this technology, such as pinpointing weak spots and architecting more secure models. The new service is rooted in NetSPI’s adversarial machine learning testing methodology —  the study of adversarial attacks on machine learning and corresponding defenses.

With its foundation research, the company says, its offensive security experts have the knowledge to understand and mitigate vulnerabilities within machine learning models better by testing them against real adversarial attack techniques.

“Securing technologies like ML/AI can be daunting, but our customers do not have to navigate the journey alone,” explained Nick Landers, vice president of research at NetSPI. “Innovation in this space shows no signs of stopping – and we’re excited to bring our wealth of knowledge in machine learning, cybersecurity and data science to help organizations navigate the emerging space with security top of mind. Our goal is not to slow innovation but to help organizations innovate with confidence.”

Key features of NetSPI’s ML/AI Pentesting solution included a dedicated partner through ideation, development, training, implementation and real-world deployment. Companies that sign up for the service also gain access to holistic and contextual security testing across their tech stack, leveraging NetSPI’s application cloud and network security testing expertise.

NetSPI also evaluates defenses against major attacks and tailored adversarial examples, provides guidance on building a robust development and training pipeline, and offers comprehensive vulnerability reports and remediation instructions delivered via NetSPI’s PTaaS platform.
