Cloud cybersecurity startup Orca Security Ltd. has announced an expansion of its partnership with Google Cloud that seeks to bolster the security of cloud workloads.
Under the expanded partnership, Orca Security will integrate its Orca Cloud Security platform with various Google security products, including Google Chronicle, Security Command Center and VirusTotal. The integration aims to offer a comprehensive and more contextually aware security layer for customers’ Google Cloud estates. The partnership encompasses infrastructure, workload and data, providing robust protection from diverse risk types.
Orca Security’s agentless approach to cloud security is designed to simplify the typically complex orchestration involved in securing cloud assets. Through integration with Google Cloud security tools, Orca will augment and normalize the data across various environments. The enhanced coordination allows security teams to leverage Google Cloud telemetry within the Orca platform, providing an insightful, unified view of the security landscape.
In one example, the integration enables the Orca Platform to send alert data directly to Google Cloud Security Command Center to ensure that security teams can view vulnerability and configuration data across their cloud environments. The flow of information ensures that security teams have immediate visibility into vulnerability and configuration data across their entire cloud ecosystem, streamlining their response time and mitigating the impact of potential threats.
The integration also extends to VirusTotal, which provides security analysts and incident response teams the ability to quickly find and consume additional intelligence on malware found by the Orca Platform. According to Orca, this provides more context on the type of suspected malware and how it may connect to a larger threat.
“Orca Security and Google Cloud both share the belief that security analysts need the ability to solve more incidents with greater complexity while requiring less effort and less specialized knowledge,” Gil Geron, chief executive officer of Orca Security, said in a statement. “Together, we are enabling better detection with faster and more accurate response at the speed and scale of modern cloud environments.”
Orca Security was last in the news in March when it launched a new Data Security Posture Management capabilities as part of its Orca Cloud Security Platform. The DSPM capabilities were built upon Orca’s existing approach to cloud security by expanding capabilities with enhanced data discovery and management.
