5 Best Games of September 2022

Splatoon 3

Players will be a kid – and a squid – with the release of Nintendo’s Splatoon 3 this month.

Much like previous titles, players will choose between the Inklings and the Octolings as they wield weapons that shoot colored ink. New main and special weapons have been added to the game, and players will be able to hang out in the city of chaos “Splatsville” on the outskirts of Inkopolis with a story dubbed “Return of the Mammalians.”

Splatoon 3 will come out for the Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero

A localized chapter of Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes series, NIS America’s The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero will make its debut this month.

With the Special Support Section at his disposal, Lloyd Bannings will have Elie MacDowell, Randy Orlando, and Tio Plato at his disposal as he sets out to make the city a better place. Strategic combat has been refined, and features such as High-speed and Skip mode have both been included.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero will come out for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 27, 2022.

Freedom Planet 2

An indie darling and dark horse pick, GalaxyTrail Games’ Freedom Planet 2 is set to launch this month.

Fans of Sonic games will know the drill; fast-paced platforming action is the name of the game, with Lilac the Dragon, Carol the Wildcat, Milla the Hound, and Neera the Frost Knight at your beck and call. A Classic mode, Battlesphere area, and new Revival System all await.

Freedom Planet 2 will launch for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 13, 2022.

The Last of Us Part I

Naughty Dog and PlayStation Studios are going back to where the series began with the release of The Last of Us Part 1.

A winner of more than 200 Game of the Year awards, this title has players taking control of Joel, who has been tasked with smuggling 14-year-old Ellie out of a military quarantine zone to the Fireflies. However, he’ll have to contend with both hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated fungus known as Cordyceps.

The Last of Us Part 1 will come out for the PlayStation 5 on September 2, 2022.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle R

Things are about to get bizarre with the release of CyberConnect2 and Bandai Namco’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle R.

An expanded version of the 2014 PlayStation 3 original (you can read our review here), JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle R features 50 colorful characters from Hirohiko Araki’s long-running anime and manga series. Adjustments to the fighting tempo and the addition of hit stops and jump dashes have been included, along with new audio recordings from the Part 6 anime voice actors.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R will come out for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 1, 2022.
