Analysts identify key trends in hardware, partnerships and security from Dell Technologies World

The storage software innovations announced by Dell Technologies Inc. on Monday reinforced the company’s position in building new levels of automation, security and multicloud functionality for the enterprise.

A key part of Dell’s innovation revolves around hardware and its partner ecosystem to deliver new solutions.

“Dell is still doing a lot of the really hard work of optimizing systems on the back end,” said David Nicholson (pictured, left), industry analyst for theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. “Whether it’s retail or advances in security, they are all driven by highly optimized and tuned hardware. Partnerships that Dell has behind the scenes are a big part of that.”

Nicholson spoke with fellow industry analysts John Furrier (pictured, center) and Lisa Martin (pictured, right) during today’s kickoff segment for theCUBE’s coverage of Dell Technologies World. They analyzed Dell’s recent announcements and significant trends being discussed at the conference in Las Vegas. (* Disclosure below.)

Partnership with Snowflake

Partnerships continue to play an important role for Dell and the tech industry as a whole. The company announced a partnership with cloud data warehouse giant Snowflake Inc. to connect data from its on-premises storage offerings with the Snowflake Data Cloud.

“The partner story is more important than ever; you are seeing more ecosystems develop,” Furrier noted. “You can do piece parts of solutions, and the glue layers in software at scale are now available. It’s easier now for customers to buy point solutions and put them together.”

Dell’s significant number of software enhancements are also focused on enabling greater security and control for organizations seeking an IT infrastructure that delivers a cloud-like experience regardless of where data resides. The increased importance of data for most businesses has elevated the need for cybersecurity protection.

“I was reading some statistics recently that there is one attack every 11 seconds,” Martin said. “It’s not a matter of whether we’re going to get hit, it’s when. Security is that board level, front-and-center conversation.”
